Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, others die in a plane crash in Kaduna

A Nigeria military Beachcraft 350 aircraft crashed this evening at the Kaduna International Airport, claiming the life of the eight passengers on board including the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

Blazing Reports learnt that the aircraft crashed at the airport’s runway about 6 pm when it was about taking and exploded.

Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria, Akin Olateru, announced that the eight persons on board died.
Olateru wrote in a WhatsApp note that “Beachcraft 350.with 8 persons on board had crashed. Unfortunately all dead”.

Also, the Nigeria Air Force confirmed without giving details that one of its aircraft in Kaduna was involved in a crash.

Edward Gabkwet,the Nigerian Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, release this information in a statement.

No fewer than 17 military officers have lost their since the begining of the year in three crashes involving NAF jets.

On Sunday, February 21, 2021, seven Nigeria Air Force officers died onboard a Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft close to the Abuja airport when the jet crashed.

And, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Nigeria Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, announced that an Alpha-Jet aircraft involved in the anti-terror war against ISWAP and Boko Haram lost radar contact in Borno State.

The jet was later declared crashed, the two officers on board yet to be found, although Boko Haram claimed responsibility for shooting down the aircraft, the Nigeria Air Force denied the claim.
